Retro 50's aircraft.

I got sent a link by a friend of mine about retro aircraft that looked like UFOs (to see it click HERE ) and I understand that the USA played around with a similar looking craft to this well it looks kinda scifi so I decided it would look great in the Bloomfield air force base location they would have to look like they are in various stages of decay.

On a more map related topic Later on today I will be starting work on the cell block's for Tibbets prison after i received info from Briosafreak that pointed me on a new path which is more in keeping with the original.

More later on - Chris

Revolations.

Thanks to Briosafreak for sending me some details for Van Buren that I have previously unaware of especially for Tibbets Prison, you are a life saver. I am studying the notes an seeing what I have to change in my layout so far. One important note that was in the first two paragraphs the prison was called "The Big empty"so I wont have to bother with as many NPCs as I was originally going to put in, and that the robots that where staffing the facility are damaged an confused an that the supper computer running the facility is called ULYSSES an how the Played decides to react to this is a major part of the game Think along the lines of the Morton brothers from fallout 2 and you will get the idea.

Today I decided that the walls I chose to build the prison from where a bit to clean for a prison that has been in use for hundreds of years so I got to thinking what tiles would go well in such a setting, so I decided to take a look the ones in FOT which as involved me running all over Liverpool trying to find out who had my disk's I am installing them now so I will let you know what I find.

As always the comments are open for you to let me know what you all think, an if you have any information relating to Van Buren please let me know.

Starting & an the word spread's.

Today i got word that the news of my project is spreading because Its been Blog'ed on Fallout3: A Post Nuclear Blog an I would like to thank Briosafreek the owner for announcing me an my Project to read what he said Click Hear.

I have made another prototype starting area for the cell's but I still haven't any idea as to how the player will escape from the prison as the design doc's have little or no information on how you where intended to escape. I am leaning towards there was a riot some ware else in the facility an the most of the security bots where sent to put down the riot an you ceased the moment to escape.

Cell's:

This is where you actually escape from (top left cell) If I go with the idea about the riot I want you to wake up in the cell an the door is not locked.

Corridor an Lift:
This area is where you see a lift which leads you to the next much tougher cell's area an leads to the guard room.

Guard room:
In the guard room you will find some Robo brain's which are run down an incredibly damaged after years of no repair making it easy to out wit them, also in the lockers you will find some items confiscated over the years an notes as to when the prison was automated an what was left behind by the guards when it was automated.

Any way I'll keep working on it an let all who read this Blog know where I am up to, as a end note I would like to say I am taking suggestions as to how it looks an the story line as how the player escapes. Email me at chriscchadwick@hotimail.co.uk

Alternatives?

Today I was making use of the search function on the NMA forums to see if it is possible to make new tiles in F2, well imagine my surprise when I come across a post by Wild_QWERTY saying that you can make map's for the FIFE engine using the Fallout 2 mapper. I have heard of FIFE (the name stands for Flexible Isometric Fallout (like) Engine) an I have got to thinking that it is possible I could use FIFE to build Van Buren, although the FIFE editor is not ready yet it's showing promise {at lease as far as i can see}, for the moment though i will stick to the F2 engine for the minute.

Other than that bit of news I have been working on the cell layout an i am still not happy with it, the one i am working on at the moment is not housing 3 inmates like my first one but more like one the first level is proving to be a design nightmare for me as I want to get it just right in regards to the layout of the cell's. The new layout will be one convict to a cell an a patrolling hover bot / security bot. An a guard room at one end next to the level exit (which will most likely be a lift) which there will be a few items for the PC to collect along the way.

Any way that's all I can say right now so - Good night.
